Dear Member of ASPA's Section on Chinese Public Administration (SCPA):
Welcome aboard!

Congratulations on becoming a member of ASPA’s Section on Chinese Public Administration (SCPA). We hope you will enjoy your membership and get connected with a community which is actively involved in Chinese public administration in various ways. Our mission is to

  • Promote mutual understanding between international and Chinese public administration professionals;
  • Contribute to the development of the emerging Chinese public administration discipline in theory and research;
  • Stimulate research interests in Chinese public administration;
  • Facilitate the establishment of strategic partnerships between the U.S. and Chinese academic and research institutions.

Specifically, through participating in the programs and activities sponsored by SCPA, you can:

  • Meaningfully engage with the public administration community in China;
  • Personally witness and effectively contribute to the reforms of a socialist society in its transition toward a market economy;
  • Find opportunities for exchanges with almost 100 MPA programs in China;
  • Explore platforms for interacting with academics, professionals, and public organizations in China;
  • Draw on your knowledge, skills, and experience in solving emerging cutting-edge issues common to China, the United States, and other countries;

You can easily participate in SCPA’s activities by taking the following actions:

  • Volunteer for SCPA board and committees;
  • Help with the journal Chinese Public Administration Review (CPAR) by reviewing manuscripts;
  • Let us know how you are involved in exchanges about Chinese public administration, and share your experiences by sending us your papers, news notes, and photos;
  • Attend ASPA national conferences and other international conferences in China sponsored by SCPA and ASPA.
  • Advertise SCPA and invite your friends and colleagues to join SCPA.

Currently, we are launching a website for our section. The website will be our main venue for membership and public communication, and its web address is: www.ASPAChina.org . On the webpage, you will find conference announcements and news briefs on China, as well as opportunities for scholarly and professional exchanges between China and the U.S., and published resources such as journals and e-books. Important activities of SCPA members will be profiled. In addition, we are creating a listserv to connect members.

We are sending you a copy of a back issue of Chinese Public Administration Review. As the youngest section of ASPA, we would like to hear more of your suggestions as your inputs are essential for the growth and success of the section.

Sincerely,

Marc Holzer
